3801 Grand Way
St. Louis Park, MN
This coolly casual “public house” is a beery pillar of the Excelsior & Grand development. With 20-plus taps and a sleek and slender bar area, McCoy’s makes it possible for St. Louis Park residents to grab a superior microbrew or two without broaching city limits. Aesthetically, the contemporary ale house is a step above a standard pub, but carries no added pretense. MICHAEL RIETMULDER
Vaguely retro, with dark wood and cozy booths. The menu offers something for nearly everybody, from a Sonoma vegan wrap to a BBQ Bison Burger and a delightful wild mushroom Brie thin-crust pizza with basil pesto. The Comfort Food section of the menu lists seven items. Recommended dishes: Rib-eye steak, pork chop, firecracker shrimp, nightly seafood specials. Wine list: Mostly California, moderately priced, full bar and interesting selection of tap beers and some unusual cocktails. (Jeremy Iggers, 1/15/2004)
