Michael Attias and Homer Lambrecht

Fans of avant-garde improvised jazz should take note of a Lowertown St. Paul show this weekend, one of saxophonist Pat Moriarty and pianist Ellen Lease's intriguing periodic presentations, this time with an out-of-town guest, and the return of a highly respected bandmate. The visitor is Michael Attias, a New York City-based saxophonist, composer, free improviser and recording artist, who has four CDs out on Clean Feed Records, the latest being "Spun Tree." And the old pal is composer and trombonist Homer Lambrecht, better known in classical music/orchestral settings, where he's earned plaudits and commissions. This time Homer is appearing, sans horn, as a live electronics specialist, providing "interactive soundscapes" for the intrepid trio to explore. Tom Surowicz
