Fruitful and Multiplying: The Overpopulation Exhibit

In the past 50 years, world population has more than doubled. This is an alarming factoid on a planet with finite resources. As air deteriorates, clean water disappears, oceans rise and food becomes increasingly scarce, denial is not a helpful coping strategy. In “Fruitful and Multiplying,” four artists -- Mayumi Amada, Michael Kareken, Jim Proctor and John Schuerman -- focus on overpopulation and its effects. Work by 13 additional artists will hang in a salon-style display, and the show will be buttressed with information from World Population Balance, a Twin Cities nonprofit organization. Related events include artist talks and theatrical performances about these life-threatening issues. Mary Abbe
