Real Estate and Purex

New Jersey quintet Real Estate just issued one of the most elegant, sublime collections of hazy-jangly, Luna-style guitar work of recent memory, “Atlas.” However, the album’s hypnotic charm proved rather boring amid the fun and mayhem of South by Southwest last week, a point not helped by the band’s wooden stage presence. Hopefully, it can find a better zone-out zone here. Calgary quartet Pure X won’t be any livelier in the opening slot but also lays down some lovely chill-rock on record. Chris Riemenschneider
