Minnesota Opera

Minnesota Opera’s new production of Mozart’s “Magic Flute" originated at the Komische Oper in Berlin in 2012 and was created by the avant-garde British theatre group, 1927. Minnesota Opera is collaborating with L.A. Opera to bring this production to America. The fanciful production translates Mozart’s magic into the style of 1920s silent films. For example, the slave Monostatos is costumed as Nosferatu. The singers interact with a wide variety of puppets and live animation. william Randall Beard
