Concrete and Grass Lowertown Music Festival

Thursday: St. Paul Chamber Orchestra Chamber Ensemble, 7 p.m.; Martin Devaney, 8:30 p.m. Friday: Prairie Fire Lady Choir, 5 p.m.; Salsa del Soul, 6:30 p.m.; Adam Meckler Orchestra, 8:30 p.m. Saturday: Ancia Saxophone Quartet, 4 p.m.; Minnesota Opera, 5:30 p.m.; Breaking Brass, 7 p.m.; Badfinger, 8:30 p.m. Mears Park in downtown St. Paul again plays host again to the Concrete and Grass Lowertown Music Festival. An ensemble from the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra opens the three-day event with Beethoven’s Septet in E-flat, one of his most popular works while he was alive — so popular that he expressed embarrassment at it. In the midst of a roster of jazz, rock and salsa musicians will be performances by Minnesota Opera and the Ancia Saxophone Quartet, presented by the Schubert Club. William Randall Beard
